Where does the Galaxy S26+ fit?

Samsung’s US announcement said the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra were available to pre-order that day, with general availability from March 11, 2026. The S26+ started at $1,099.99 with 256GB and 512GB of storage, against $899.99 for the S26 and $1,299.99 for the S26 Ultra. Shared colors are Cobalt Violet, White, Black and Sky Blue, with Pink Gold and Silver Shadow sold online at Samsung.com.

We could not find the S26+ in the sales rankings we cite, so it ranks twenty-first in our library as part of Samsung’s current lineup, listed on its US smartphone page. See the Samsung hub for the full family.

What cable does the Galaxy S26+ use?

Samsung’s US support page lists a USB Type-C 3A charging cable in the box, so the phone charges over USB Type-C. Our USB-C explainer covers the connector. We state no data speed because Samsung’s pages did not give a USB version; the USB speed guide explains the general tiers, and cable buying safety covers how to pick a replacement.

What charger does the Galaxy S26+ need?

Wired. Samsung lists Super Fast Charging 2.0 up to 45W, with up to 69% charge in around 30 minutes with a 45W adapter, and says wired charging is compatible with QC2.0 and AFC PD. The box has no adapter, so you buy or reuse one. Samsung’s 45W adapter page lists Super Fast Charging 2.0 requiring a USB PD 3.0 compatible device with Direct Charging and PPS support; see PPS and Samsung Super Fast Charging, USB Power Delivery and the wattage guide.

Wireless. Samsung lists Super Fast Wireless Charging up to 20W, compatible with WPC, and Wireless PowerShare. See Qi explained and the wireless charger guide.

Samsung’s charging tips. Samsung’s support page on fast charging says Super Fast Charging is only available on select devices and needs a Samsung-approved adapter, that not all devices support 45W, that the device automatically chooses the best supported speed, and that plugging the adapter into a wall outlet is faster than plugging the cable into a computer. Use only Samsung-approved chargers and cables, as Samsung advises; for a checklist, read which charger is safe for my phone.

The screen, explained

The Galaxy S26+ has a 6.7-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate that runs from 1 to 120Hz and 2600 nits peak brightness. Samsung says the 6.7-inch figure is measured on the full rectangle and the screen is 6.5 inches with the rounded corners accounted for. Samsung describes AMOLED as a type of OLED, which we explain in OLED explained; see the refresh rate guide for what the 1 to 120Hz range means. Samsung does not use the term LTPO for this phone on the pages we checked; see LTPO OLED.

Performance, cameras and battery

The phone has the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy with 12GB of RAM, and a 4,900 mAh typical battery. The cameras are a 50MP wide, a 12MP ultra wide and a 10MP 3x telephoto, with 3x optical zoom, 2x optical-quality zoom and 30x digital zoom; the selfie camera is 12MP. Video goes up to 8K at 30 fps or 4K at 60 fps.

Build, connectivity and durability

Samsung lists IP68 water resistance based on submersion in up to 1.5 meters of freshwater for up to 30 minutes, noting it is not permanent. The phone measures 75.8 x 158.4 x 7.3 mm and weighs 190 grams. It supports 5G on sub-6 and mmWave bands, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0, and runs Android 16 with One UI 8.5. Samsung says the Galaxy S26 series is supported with seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates.

Software and AI features Samsung highlights

The Galaxy S26+ launches with Android 16 and One UI 8.5. Samsung’s announcement says Galaxy AI on the S26 series is designed to reduce the steps between intent and action. It describes Now Nudge, which can suggest photos from your Gallery when a friend asks for pictures from a trip, and a more proactive Now Brief that surfaces reminders for events such as reservations and travel updates. Circle to Search with Google gains multi-object recognition, so you can search several parts of an image at once, and Document Scan removes distortions such as creases or fingers and can combine several images into one PDF. These are Samsung’s own descriptions, and some features require a Samsung account or a network connection.

How it compares with the Galaxy S26 and the S26 Ultra

Samsung’s table lets you place the S26+ in the middle. Against the Galaxy S26 it has a larger 6.7-inch QHD+ screen against 6.3-inch FHD+, a 4,900 mAh battery against 4,300 mAh, 45W wired charging against 25W and 20W wireless against 15W, and it weighs 190 grams against 167 grams. Against the S26 Ultra it has a smaller screen (6.7 against 6.9 inches), a smaller battery (4,900 against 5,000 mAh), 45W against 60W, and no S Pen, 200MP camera or Privacy Display. It launched at $1,099.99, between $899.99 and $1,299.99.

What is in the box

Samsung’s US support page lists the phone, a USB Type-C 3A charging cable and a SIM ejector tool. There is no power adapter; Samsung’s table says the adapter is sold separately.

How to read Samsung’s battery and charging numbers

Samsung’s footnotes explain how to read the figures for the Galaxy S26+. The 4,900 mAh battery capacity is a typical value tested under third-party laboratory conditions, an estimated average that accounts for variation between battery samples tested under the IEC 61960 standard, and Samsung gives a rated (minimum) capacity of 4,755 mAh. Its charging figure of up to 69% in around 30 minutes assumes the 45W adapter that is sold separately; Samsung says wired charging is compatible with QC2.0 and AFC PD. Samsung also says actual battery life varies with network environment, usage patterns and other factors, so treat every number as a comparison between phones, not a promise for your day. Samsung also lists Wireless PowerShare, which lets the phone charge another compatible device, and says it is limited to Samsung or other brand smartphones with Qi wireless charging.

Compatible accessories
