A foldable asks different questions from a flat phone: how thin it is, how tough the hinge and screen are, and what its two screens do. This page collects Samsung’s documented specifications for the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, explains what they mean for the cable and charger you buy, and sets them beside the other two new foldables. Every figure is traced to a source listed at the bottom of the page.

Three blanks are deliberate. The USB spec row is empty because we found no USB version for the US model. The wired charging row is empty because Samsung gives a charging time with a 45W adapter, not a maximum wattage. The size row shows the 8.0-inch main screen, with the cover screen covered in the text below.
Where does the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra fit?
Samsung’s US announcement introduced three foldables together: the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, the Galaxy Z Fold8 and the Galaxy Z Flip8. General availability began on August 7, 2026. The Fold8 Ultra starts at $2,099.99 with 256GB, 512GB and 1TB of storage, against $1,899.99 for the Fold8. Colors are Violet Shadow, Graphite and Cream, with Green Shadow sold online on Samsung.com, and availability varies by retailer or carrier.
We could not find the Fold8 Ultra in the sales rankings we cite, so it ranks eighteenth in our library as part of Samsung’s current lineup. Samsung’s US smartphone page lists it first among the Galaxy Z models. See the Samsung hub for the rest of the family.
What cable does the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra use?
Samsung’s specification table ties the phone’s wired charging claim to a 45W adapter and a 3A USB-C cable, so it charges over USB-C. Our USB-C explainer covers the connector: slim, reversible and defined by the USB-IF. Samsung’s pages did not give a USB data version for this model, so we state no data speed; the USB speed guide explains the general tiers. See cable buying safety for how to choose a replacement.
What charger does the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra need?
Wired. Samsung lists up to 67% charge in around 30 minutes with a 45W adapter and a 3A USB-C cable, and notes the results come from internal lab tests with a 45W travel adapter at 0% with all services and the screen off. It also says the 45W Power Adapter is sold separately and to use only Samsung-approved chargers and cables, and that wired charging is compatible with QC2.0 and AFC. Samsung’s announcement describes a dual-path charging architecture with 45W fast charging that distributes power across the battery system. Samsung’s 45W adapter page lists Super Fast Charging 2.0 with PD 3.0 PPS support; see PPS and Samsung Super Fast Charging and the wattage guide.
Wireless. Samsung lists Fast Wireless Charging with 20W, compatible with WPC, and Wireless PowerShare, which can charge another phone with Qi wireless charging. Samsung adds that PowerShare may not work with certain accessories or covers. See Qi explained and the wireless charger guide. For a checklist, read which charger is safe for my phone.
The screens, explained
The Fold8 Ultra has two screens. The main screen is 8.0 inches, QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X at 2504 x 2256 and 422 ppi, with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate that runs from 1 to 120Hz and Vision Booster. The cover screen is 6.5 inches, FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X at 1080 x 2520 and 422 ppi, with the same 1 to 120Hz range.
Samsung says its new Flex Titanium technology introduces a titanium-based display structure, combining a titanium-alloy film with an enhanced titanium plate, to make foldables thinner while keeping durability, and says the structure helps absorb pressure and impact and reduce crease visibility. Samsung describes AMOLED as a type of OLED, which we explain in OLED explained; the refresh rate guide explains a 1 to 120Hz range. Samsung does not use the term LTPO for this phone on the pages we checked, so we label it plain OLED; see LTPO OLED.
Performance, cameras and battery
The phone uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy, with 12GB of RAM for the 256GB and 512GB models and 16GB for 1TB. The battery is a 5,000 mAh typical dual battery. Samsung’s announcement says an expanded graphite cooling structure improves thermal conductivity.
The camera system has a 200MP wide camera (OIS, f/1.7), a 50MP ultra-wide (f/1.9, 120-degree field of view) and a 10MP 3x telephoto (OIS, f/2.4), with 30x Space Zoom and video up to 8K at 30 fps. There are two 10MP selfie cameras, one on the main screen and one on the cover screen.
Build, size and durability
Unfolded, the Fold8 Ultra measures 158.4 x 143.2 x 4.1 mm, and folded 158.4 x 72.8 x 8.9 mm, and weighs 215 grams. Samsung lists Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 on the cover, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the rear and an Armor Aluminum frame. It is rated IP48, based on lab conditions for submersion in up to 1.5 meters of freshwater for up to 30 minutes; Samsung says to rinse residue and dry if wet, that it is not advised for beach or pool use and that water resistance is not permanent. It runs Android 17 with One UI 9, supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0, and takes a SIM plus an eSIM.
Software and AI features Samsung highlights
The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra launches with Android 17 and One UI 9. Samsung’s announcement says Galaxy AI now works across more apps and services, with experiences optimized for foldables. It describes Now Brief, which gives personalized briefing cards and now also surfaces security and privacy insights, and Now Nudge, which suggests next steps such as checking a schedule or saving a location, and lets you continue a conversation side by side on the larger display. Samsung says Gemini Intelligence app automation works across more than 40 supported apps and services, and that Gemini Notebook lets you gather notes, images, recordings and files in one workspace, with drag-and-drop in Split view.
Samsung also describes a new AI Assistant Activity dashboard in One UI 9, which shows the AI automations running on your behalf in one place, and enhanced Privacy Alerts. Samsung Knox protects the device from the chip up, with Knox Vault adding a tamper-resistant physical layer for sensitive information. These are Samsung’s descriptions of its own features, and some require a Samsung account or a network connection.
How it compares with the Galaxy Z Fold8
Samsung’s table lets you compare the Galaxy Z Fold8 directly. The Fold8 Ultra has the larger 8.0-inch main screen against 7.6 inches, a 6.5-inch cover screen against 5.5 inches, a 5,000 mAh battery against 4,800 mAh and a 200MP main camera against 50MP, and Samsung lists up to 67% in 30 minutes against 63%. It weighs 215 grams against 201 grams and costs $2,099.99 against $1,899.99. Both share the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, 20W wireless charging and IP48.
What is in the box
Samsung’s table says the 45W Power Adapter is sold separately and to use only Samsung-approved chargers and cables; we found no US page listing the full box contents for this model, so we say only that no adapter is listed as included.
Repair overview
iFixit has a device page for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, which describes it as released in 2026. When we checked it listed no repairability score and no repair guides, so we show none. We never copy iFixit’s text.

Samsung’s announcement describes Samsung Care+ with unlimited repairs for accidental damage as an option. Our battery page cites Apple’s guidance because we have not yet found a Samsung equivalent.
