The iPhone 18 Pro is the phone Apple leads with right now, and it is the one most shoppers will compare with an iPhone 17 Pro or a Galaxy S26 Ultra. This page collects Apple’s documented specifications, explains what they mean for the cable, charger and case you buy, and shows what changed from the iPhone 17 Pro. Every figure is traced to a source listed at the bottom of the page.

The wired charging row is blank on purpose: Apple publishes a fast-charge claim tied to a type of adapter, not a maximum wattage. The iFixit score row is blank because iFixit showed none when we checked.
Where does the iPhone 18 Pro fit?
Apple’s newsroom says pre-orders for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max began Saturday, September 12, 2026, with availability beginning Friday, September 18, and a later post confirms the phones arrived in Apple Stores that day. The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199 in the US with 256GB, 512GB, 1TB or 2TB of storage, against $1,299 for the larger iPhone 18 Pro Max. Apple lists four finishes: black, silver, glacier and a new burgundy.
It is too new for our sales sources, so it ranks sixteenth in our library as Apple’s current flagship rather than because of sales. Apple’s main iPhone lineup page lists it alongside the iPhone Air, iPhone 17, iPhone 17e and iPhone 16. The Apple hub lists the full lineup.
What cable does the iPhone 18 Pro use?
The phone has one USB-C connector. Apple’s specifications list charging, DisplayPort and USB 3 data transfer at up to 10Gb/s, the middle tier of USB 3.2 as the USB-IF defines it (5, 10 and 20 Gb/s); see USB 2.0 vs USB 3.x. That matches the iPhone 17 Pro’s figure, so nothing changed on the data side.
The USB-IF says USB products run at the lowest common speed. Apple says the box cable supports fast charging and works with USB-C power adapters and computer ports, but it does not describe it as a 10Gb/s data cable, so buy a cable made for fast transfers if you need one. See cable buying safety and the USB-C explainer.
What charger does the iPhone 18 Pro need?
Wired. Apple says the iPhone 18 Pro can charge up to 50% in around 15 minutes with a 60W-capable adapter or higher with Adjustable Voltage Supply (available separately), paired with a USB-C charging cable. The iPhone 17 Pro’s claim was up to 50% in 20 minutes with a 40W adapter. The USB-IF describes an adjustable voltage mode on its USB Power Delivery page, and our wattage guide lists other published figures. Apple does not state a maximum wired wattage, so we leave the field empty.
MagSafe. Apple lists MagSafe wireless charging up to 25W, and says up to 50% in 30 minutes with a 35W adapter or higher and a MagSafe Charger. Apple’s MagSafe page names the iPhone 18 Pro among models that reach 25W with a 30W or greater adapter rated 15V/2.0A or higher, and notes that charging is limited to 16W while USB-C or Lightning accessories are connected.
Qi2. Apple also lists Qi2 wireless charging up to 25W; see Qi2 explained and the wireless charger guide. For a checklist, read which charger is safe for my phone.
The screen, explained
The iPhone 18 Pro has a 6.3-inch all-screen OLED display, branded Super Retina XDR, at 2622-by-1206 pixels and 460 ppi, with Dynamic Island, an Always-On display and ProMotion with adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz. Apple lists 1000 nits typical maximum brightness, 1600 nits peak for HDR and 3000 nits peak outdoors. OLED means each pixel makes its own light; see OLED explained and the refresh rate guide. Apple does not use the term LTPO on the pages we checked; see LTPO OLED.
Performance, cameras and battery
The A20 Pro chip has a 6-core CPU (2 super cores and 4 efficiency cores), a 7-core GPU with Neural Accelerators and a Dual 16-core Neural Engine, according to Apple. The announcement says it is built on a 2-nanometer process and paired with a next-generation vapor chamber.
The camera system is a 48MP Pro Fusion setup: a 48MP Fusion Main with variable aperture, a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide and a 48MP Fusion Telephoto at 4x. Apple’s announcement describes the variable aperture as bringing creative control that was not possible before.
For battery life Apple lists up to 24 hours of typical use, up to 36 hours of video playback and up to 33 hours of streamed video. The iPhone 17 Pro was listed at up to 33 hours of video playback.
Build and durability
The iPhone 18 Pro has an aluminum unibody with a Ceramic Shield 2 front and a Ceramic Shield back. It is rated IP68, with a maximum depth of 6 meters for up to 30 minutes under IEC standard 60529. It measures 5.91 inches tall, 2.83 inches wide and 0.34 inches deep and weighs 211 grams, against 206 grams for the iPhone 17 Pro. It supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, 5G on sub-6 GHz and mmWave bands and dual eSIM, and is not compatible with physical SIM cards.
How it compares with the iPhone 17 Pro
Apple’s pages show a focused update. Both phones have a 6.3-inch OLED display with ProMotion up to 120Hz, USB 3 at up to 10Gb/s, MagSafe and Qi2 up to 25W and an aluminum unibody with the same dimensions apart from weight. The 18 Pro moves from the A19 Pro to the A20 Pro, adds variable aperture on the main camera, lists up to 36 hours of video playback against 33 hours, and claims 50% in around 15 minutes with a 60W-capable adapter against 20 minutes with a 40W adapter. It launched at $1,199 against $1,099 for the 17 Pro.
What is in the box
Apple’s specifications list the iPhone, a 1 m USB-C charge cable and documentation, and say the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max do not include a power adapter or EarPods. Apple encourages you to use any compatible USB-C power adapter. Apple also lists dual eSIM, so there is no SIM card or tray to find in the box.
Getting the most from MagSafe
Apple’s MagSafe guidance applies to the iPhone 18 Pro. Apple says the system adapts to conditions and that the power actually delivered depends on the iPhone model, the wattage of the power adapter and system conditions, so 25W is a peak, not a constant. It stresses plugging the charger into power before placing the phone on it, so MagSafe can verify it is safe to deliver maximum power; if you placed the phone on the charger first, remove it, wait three seconds and put it back. Apple lists the 25W figure for chargers with part numbers A3502, A3503, A2580 or A3250, and says higher-wattage adapters at or above 15V/2.0A also deliver a maximum of up to 25W peak power. Check the part number on the charger or its cable before assuming it will reach the top speed.
Repair overview
iFixit has a device page for the iPhone 18 Pro, which describes it as released in September 2026, and a screen replacement guide. When we checked it showed no repairability score, so we show none. We link to iFixit and never copy its text.
