The Galaxy S25 Ultra was the only Samsung flagship in Counterpoint Research’s top 10 for 2025, so many people own one. This page collects Samsung’s documented specifications, explains what they mean for the cable and charger you buy, and compares it with its successor. Every figure is traced to a source listed at the bottom of the page.

Three blanks are deliberate. The USB spec row is empty because Samsung’s pages did not give a USB version. The wired charging row is empty because Samsung’s table gives a charging time with a 45W adapter, not a maximum wattage for the phone. Wireless charging shows Qi because Samsung lists WPC compatibility.

Where does the Galaxy S25 Ultra fit?

Samsung’s US announcement said general availability began on February 7, 2025. The Galaxy S25 Ultra started at $1,299.99 with 256GB, 512GB and 1TB storage, against $999.99 for the S25+ and $799.99 for the S25. Samsung lists the colors Titanium Silverblue, Titanium Black, Titanium Whitesilver and Titanium Gray, with Titanium Pinkgold, Titanium Jetblack and Titanium Jadegreen sold on Samsung.com.

Counterpoint Research’s full-year 2025 ranking, reported by AppleInsider, places the Galaxy S25 Ultra ninth in the world. Samsung’s current US lineup page lists the Galaxy S26 series and the S25 Edge but no longer shows the S25 Ultra, so we mark it as discontinued; other retailers may still stock it. See the Samsung hub for current models, including the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

What cable does the Galaxy S25 Ultra use?

Samsung’s specification table lists wired charging with a 45W adapter and a USB-C cable, so the phone charges over USB-C. Our USB-C explainer covers the connector. Samsung’s pages did not give a USB version, so we state no data speed; the USB speed guide explains the general tiers, and cable buying safety covers how to choose a replacement.

What charger does the Galaxy S25 Ultra need?

Wired. Samsung’s table says up to 65% charge in around 30 minutes with a 45W adapter and a USB-C cable, and notes the 45W Power Adapter is sold separately and that you should use only Samsung-approved chargers and cables. Samsung also says its result comes from internal lab tests on a pre-release unit at 0% with all services and the screen off, so real-world results will differ. Samsung’s page for its 45W adapter lists Super Fast Charging 2.0 with PD 3.0 PPS support; see PPS and Samsung Super Fast Charging, the wattage guide and USB Power Delivery.

Wireless. Samsung lists Fast Wireless Charging 2.0, compatible with WPC, and Wireless PowerShare, which charges another compatible device. Samsung’s table does not give a wireless wattage for this phone. See Qi explained and the wireless charger guide. For a short checklist, read which charger is safe for my phone.

The screen, explained

The Galaxy S25 Ultra has a 6.9-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz refresh rate that runs from 1 to 120Hz, plus Vision Booster and adaptive color tone. Samsung says the 6.9-inch figure is measured on the full rectangle and the screen is 6.8 inches with the rounded corners accounted for.

Samsung describes AMOLED as a type of OLED; see OLED explained and the refresh rate guide for the 1 to 120Hz range. Samsung does not use the term LTPO for this phone in the pages we checked, so we label it plain OLED; see LTPO OLED. The front glass is Corning Gorilla Armor 2, which Samsung says is the industry’s first anti-reflective glass ceramic for mobile devices.

Performance, cameras and battery

The phone uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy, a chipset Samsung says it customized with Qualcomm, with 12GB of RAM. The battery is 5,000 mAh as a typical value.

The cameras are a 200MP wide (f/1.7, optical image stabilization), a 50MP ultra-wide (f/1.9, 120-degree field of view), a 50MP 5x telephoto (f/3.4, OIS) and a 10MP 3x telephoto (f/2.4, OIS). The front camera is 12MP. Samsung says the Galaxy S25 Ultra comes with a built-in S Pen.

Build, connectivity and durability

Samsung says the Galaxy S25 Ultra features durable titanium and the Gorilla Armor 2 front, and calls it the slimmest, lightest and most durable Galaxy Ultra at launch. It is rated IP68, based on submersion in up to 1.5 meters of freshwater for up to 30 minutes, with Samsung’s note that you should rinse and dry after wet use and avoid beach or pool use. It measures 77.6 x 162.8 x 8.2 mm and weighs 218 grams. It supports 5G, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, and launched with Android 15 and One UI 7. Samsung says the Galaxy S25 series is supported with seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates.

How it compares with the Galaxy S26 Ultra

Samsung’s own tables let you compare the Galaxy S26 Ultra directly. Both have a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 1 to 120Hz range and a 5,000 mAh battery, and both promise seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates. The newer phone lists 60W Super Fast Charging 3.0 with up to 75% charge in around 30 minutes against the 45W adapter and 65% for the S25 Ultra, and gives its wireless charging a 25W figure where the S25 Ultra’s table gives none. It is slightly lighter at 214 grams against 218 grams and thinner at 7.9 mm against 8.2 mm, and swaps the titanium frame for an Armor Aluminum one. It also adds the built-in Privacy Display, which Samsung calls a first on mobile. If you own an S25 Ultra and your concern is charging speed, the main published difference is the adapter: Samsung’s 60W adapter and phone pairing.

What is in the box

Samsung’s table says the 45W Power Adapter is sold separately and to use only Samsung-approved chargers and cables. We could not find a Samsung page listing the full contents of the US box for this model, so we say only that no adapter is included. The S Pen is built into the phone.

Charging tips from Samsung

Samsung’s support page on fast charging gives advice that applies to this phone. It says Super Fast Charging is only available on select devices and needs a 25W or 45W Samsung-approved adapter, that not all devices support 45W, and that the device automatically chooses the best speed it supports when plugged into a higher-rated charger. It also says to connect the adapter to a wall outlet, because plugging the cable into a computer or another device lengthens charging time. Samsung adds that using accessories that are not Samsung-approved may invalidate your warranty and cause damage, which is why our charger safety guide recommends matching the adapter to what the maker lists.

Repair overview

iFixit has a device page for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, with guides including battery replacement and back cover replacement. When we checked, it showed no repairability score, so we show none. We link to them and never copy iFixit’s text.

Read our repair overview for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, battery replacement basics, screen replacement basics and how to read repairability scores. Our battery page cites Apple’s guidance because we have not yet found a Samsung equivalent; the FAA notes lithium-ion batteries can overheat, so battery work is best left to trained technicians.
