The iPhone Duo is not on sale yet. This page lists what Apple has published so far, so you can plan the cable, charger and case before it ships. Every figure comes from an Apple page listed at the bottom, and we will re-check it when the phone goes on sale. Anything Apple has not stated is left blank.

The wired charging row is blank on purpose: Apple publishes a fast-charge claim tied to an adapter, not a maximum wattage. The iFixit score row is blank because iFixit lists none yet. The display size shown is the 7.6-inch inner screen.

When does it arrive?

Apple’s iPhone Duo page says pre-orders start at 5:00 a.m. PT on 16 October and the phone is available from 23 October 2026. Apple’s announcement was on 9 September 2026 and gives a US starting price of $1,999. Some news sites have reported other pre-order dates, so rely on Apple’s page and check it before you plan to queue. Apple lists storage of 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB and two finishes, Night Sky and Star White.

What cable does the iPhone Duo use?

The phone has one USB-C connector. Apple’s specifications list charging, DisplayPort and USB 3 data transfer at up to 10Gb/s, the middle tier of USB 3.2 as the USB-IF defines it (5, 10 and 20 Gb/s); see USB 2.0 vs USB 3.x. That matches the iPhone 18 Pro.

The USB-IF says USB products run at the lowest common speed. Apple lists a 1 m USB-C charge cable in the box but does not describe it as a 10Gb/s data cable, so buy a cable made for fast transfers if you need one. See cable buying safety and the USB-C explainer.

What charger does the iPhone Duo need?

Wired. Apple says it charges up to 50% in around 20 minutes with a 60W-capable adapter. Apple does not state a maximum wired wattage, so we leave the field empty. The USB-IF describes fast charging on its USB Power Delivery page, and our wattage guide lists other published figures.

MagSafe. Apple lists MagSafe wireless charging up to 25W, and says up to 50% in around 30 minutes with a 35W adapter or higher and a MagSafe charger. See our MagSafe page.

Qi2. Apple also lists Qi2 wireless charging up to 25W; see Qi2 explained and the wireless charger guide. For a checklist, read which charger is safe for my phone.

The screens, explained

The iPhone Duo has two screens. The inner folding display is 7.6 inches at 1878-by-2670 pixels and 430 ppi. The outer display is 5.4 inches at 1398-by-2034 pixels and 460 ppi. Apple lists both as Super Retina XDR OLED with ProMotion adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz, and Apple’s announcement quotes 3000 nits peak outdoor brightness. OLED means each pixel makes its own light; see OLED explained and the refresh rate guide. Apple does not use the term LTPO on the pages we checked; see LTPO OLED.

Performance, battery and cameras

The A20 Pro chip has a 6-core CPU, a 7-core GPU and a dual 16-core Neural Engine, according to Apple. Apple lists up to 24 hours of typical use, and video playback of up to 44 hours on the outer display or up to 31 hours on the inner display. These are manufacturer figures. The rear camera is a 48MP dual fusion system, the outer screen has a 12MP front camera, and the inner screen uses an under-display camera.

Build and durability

Apple rates the iPhone Duo IP68, with a maximum depth of 6 meters for up to 30 minutes under IEC standard 60529. Unfolded it measures 6.48 inches wide, 4.64 inches tall and 0.21 inches deep; folded it is 3.31 inches wide and 0.44 inches deep. Apple lists a weight of 254 grams. It has dual eSIM, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and 5G on sub-6 GHz and mmWave bands.

What is in the box

Apple’s specifications list the iPhone Duo, a 1 m USB-C charge cable and documentation. No power adapter is listed, so we mark the charger as not included.

How does it compare with the iPhone 18 Pro?

Apple’s pages put the two phones close together on ports and charging and far apart on size and price. Both use USB-C with USB 3 data at up to 10Gb/s, both list MagSafe and Qi2 charging up to 25W, both use the A20 Pro chip, both have ProMotion up to 120Hz and both are rated IP68. Neither includes a power adapter in the box.

The differences are what you pay for the fold. The iPhone 18 Pro has a single 6.3-inch display, weighs 211 grams and launched at $1,199. The iPhone Duo has a 7.6-inch inner display plus a 5.4-inch outer display, weighs 254 grams and starts at $1,999. Apple’s fast-charge claim for the Duo is up to 50% in around 20 minutes with a 60W-capable adapter, against around 15 minutes for the 18 Pro. Video playback is listed at up to 44 hours on the Duo’s outer screen and 31 hours on its inner screen, against 36 hours for the 18 Pro. Use our compare tool to set the two side by side with the rest of the library.

What we do not know yet

Apple has not published everything. These items were not stated on the pages we checked, so we show no figure rather than a guess:

  • Maximum wired charging wattage. Apple gives a fast-charge claim tied to an adapter, not a peak figure.
  • Battery capacity. Apple lists playback hours, not milliamp-hours.
  • Repairability. iFixit has a device page but no score and no guides yet, and Apple’s pages we read do not describe repair options for the fold.
  • Independent test results. The phone is not on sale, so lab measurements of charging speed, battery life and screen durability do not exist yet.
  • Real-world pricing. The $1,999 figure is Apple’s announced starting price. Storage-tier prices, trade-in deals and carrier offers are on Apple’s and the carriers’ pages and can change.

Before you pre-order: a short checklist

  • Charger. No adapter is in the box. If you want the 20-minute claim, buy a 60W-capable USB-C adapter from a maker you trust, and read which charger is safe for my phone first.
  • Cable. The box cable is 1 m. If you plan to move large files, check that your cable supports the speeds you expect; see USB 2.0 vs USB 3.x.
  • Wireless. MagSafe and Qi2 both reach 25W on paper. Pick a charger that lists that figure; see MagSafe and Qi2.
  • Case. Cases are made for one specific phone, and a folding phone has a different shape from a slab phone. Check that a case is listed for the iPhone Duo before you buy.
  • Dates. Pre-orders open at 5:00 a.m. PT on 16 October and the phone is available from 23 October, per Apple. Confirm both on Apple’s page the day before.

Who should buy it, and who might skip it

Facts that help you decide:

  • You want a folding iPhone. It is Apple’s first, with a 7.6-inch inner screen that folds to a 5.4-inch outer one.
  • You want fast wired charging. Apple lists up to 50% in around 20 minutes with a 60W-capable adapter, which you buy separately.
  • You want a lower price. It starts at $1,999, against $1,199 for the iPhone 18 Pro.
  • You want a charger included. None is listed in the box.
  • You want repair data. iFixit shows no score or guides yet, so wait for them if repairability matters to you.
